I need a(nother) job

Good morning! It's been months since I've blogged about anything...I can't imagine anyone is still hanging around...hello?

On my way to work this morning I started thinking about a Sunday afternoon job. Something enjoyable, mellow...definitely not something that would rub up against a serene Sunday in the wrong way, but perhaps create an outlet, something to expend any leftover weekend energy I may have. Typically, Sunday afternoons consist of Bob napping and me...trying to figure out what to do with myself. I've never been good at completely relaxing, and while I know I should work on that (love the oxymoron of that one!) I also know that I'm an energetic person, not a napper.

Anyway, my thoughts on a weekend job actually stem a bit from my wanting to make some local friends. I just finished reading MWF Seeks BFF by Rachel Bertsche...such a good, fun book. Her whole thing is that she moved to Chicago to live with her boyfriend and, while she had work friends and general acquaintances, her BFFs were back in NYC, unavailable for a spontaneous coffee date or shopping trip. As I read the back of the book while I stood in the library, I knew I had to read it. About 9 months ago I moved in with my boyfriend, in a town that I don't have many friends in (in fact, all of my close friends live at least an hour away; each being a college buddy or a work friend, all scattered across the state).

So here I am, thinking about ways to make friends, and make friends in the seemingly little free time that I have. A Sunday gig might help me meet new friends, or it might just be a downer on my weekend. I'd have to choose wisely. I looked up social groups in my town and found A) not many, though I admit I didn't do an extensive search yet) and B) the groups met on weekdays at 10am or noon, for lunch. I guess that's what I get for living in a town that's about my financial means, LOL. I will be at work when those ladies are having lunch at the yacht club...which I'm not sure would be my scene anyway.

The search continues!
